The
Sharjah Higher Colleges of Technology (SHCT) are two of sixteen colleges that comprise the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Sharjah Women’s College was established in 1997 and the Sharjah Men’s College in 1998.
The HCT is a federally-funded system that operates under
the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan is Minister
of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Located in University
City,
Sharjah, the SHCT serve the post-secondary educational
needs of the emirates of Sharjah, Ajman,
and Umm Al Quwain. Current enrolment at SHCT, for academic year 2009-2010, is 2850 (2000 at the women’s college
and 850 at the men's college). The SHCT employs over 300 staff from
more than 25 different countries,
with the majority coming from the English-speaking world.
